Rebecca Riggs-Bennett (she/they) is an Anglo-Australian artist, award-winning sound designer, music producer, creative producer and emerging curator based in Boorloo on Whadjuk country. Her multidisciplinary, collaborative and cross-form practice embraces conversations, environments, time, memory, alternative realities, and imagined futures. Through this approach, Rebecca creates spatial sonic experiences that manifest as performances, installations and participatory artworks. Her work is often informed by personal and collective experiences, consequential events and understated occurrences.
As an artist they write, perform, design, facilitate and experiment. Projects include so once you were here they had you (commissioned by Fremantle Biennale 2023), Rabbit Punch (2021), Our Sandman (Cool Change Contemporary 2019) and my sandman (Crack Theatre Festival 2017). Her composed designs have contributed to works including Reasons To Stay Inside (Barking Gecko Arts 2025), The Seven Stages of Grieving (Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company 2025), Punkaliyarra (BighART x Perth Festival 2023 & Sydney Opera House 2025), Time Reveals The Unseen (MOD. Museum Adelaide 2022), Habitats & Homes (10 Nights In Port Festival 2021), Playthings (Black Swan State Theatre Company 2021), and Whale Fall (The Kabuki Drop x Perth Festival 2021).Rebecca was recently awarded Outstanding Sound Design for the independently produced project UP THERE at the Performing Art WA Awards 2025. In 2020, Rebecca's bedroom producer alias Elsewhere/Rebecca released the debut album, With Me, We Walk as an interactive headphone experience. The album also released three corresponding music videos and was featured by RTRFM and Seesaw Arts Magazine. Elsewhere/Rebecca was nominated Best Electronic Producer as part of West Australian Music (WAM) Awards 2021. |
